Familial polyposis of the colon is a rare inheritant diseeas in which hundreds of polyp develop in the colon and rectum usually in young age.
There is a marked tendency for these polyps to ¢¥undergo malignant degeneration while the patient is still relatively young.
Blood in,,he*stooi and diarrhea are the important symptoms.
Proctosigmoiascopic examination and roentgenological examination of the colon by the double contrast barium enema are invaluable -aids to diagnosis.
We experienced a case of familial polyposis accompanied with. rectal cancer which was treated by total colectomy with permanent ileostomy.
